I'm Hayley, a forty six year old fiction writer living in Cambridgeshire. I grew up on the south coast of England and then moved to London to build up an eighteen year career within the construction industry.
When redundancy came knocking in 2018 I took the opportunity to rediscover my passion for art, craft and all things mystical and magical. I've always loved sewing, it's a great stress buster for me, so I began making unique handmade fairies. Just to be different I filled each tiny doll with homegrown lavender from the garden. A twist on the traditional lavender bag. But very soon my overactive imagination grew. I began writing and making up little stories about the fairies I made, regularly posting about their 'adventures' on my Instagram page.
Fast forward to Lockdown 2020 and I decided to put all the little chapters from my social media page into a proper children's book, calling it 'The Escape'. Since then I have been writing even more short snippets and tales, basing each story on real locations here in the United Kingdom and another one in Bavaria. The place most commonly used is one in particular: Ferry Meadows Country Park, in Peterborough. I've affectionately renamed this beautiful park in my stories as Bluebell Meadow. Come and visit Acorn Cafe the most magical teashop in the world run by Mrs Woolley, a crocheted fairy mouse. Or drop by for a visit at Toadstool Hall, the official home of the Lavender Fairies!
