Philippa Charrier is an award-winning urban designer, wellbeing advocate, and founder of the Thrive Mode Movement. Trained as an architect and urban regeneration specialist, she spent over a decade leading major development projects across the UK and Australia, always with one mission: to create places where people can truly thrive.
In 2013, Philippa co-founded FAT Properties to redesign student housing from the ground up, applying evidence-based principles of wellbeing, behavioural science, and human-centred design. Her first book, Designed for Wellbeing, explored how the built environment influences everything from stress and sleep to productivity and connection.
Her latest bestselling book, Student Thrive Mode: How to Hack Your Mind & Body for University Success, offers a bold new framework for thriving at university and beyond. Designed for students, parents, and educators alike, it provides a practical, science-backed roadmap to boost wellbeing, resilience, and performance during the most transformative years of life.
Philippa also co-hosts the Designed for Wellbeing podcast and YouTube channel with her husband, Tom, where they explore how thoughtfully designed environments can support mental health, productivity, and overall wellbeing. They live in the Lake District with their three children.
