Marjorie Young

MARJORIE YOUNG is an award-winning PR strategist, small business owner and the founder of Carriage Trade Public Relations® Inc. in Savannah, Ga.

After establishing her company in 1995, she created Savannah’s first local newswire, COMMUNITY HEADLINES™ in 1997, and, in 1999, began producing her long-running online TV show OPEN FOR BUSINESS. In 2020, she launched a weekly online broadcast edition of the newswire, SAVANNAH COMMUNITY HEADLINES LIVE, providing the opportunity for local stakeholders to better network with each other and the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marjorie’s most recent work, “Reputation Matrix™,” is a guidebook for small business owners who need better visibility, credibility and positive word-of-mouth in the community and online. The book was hailed as “empowering” by productivity coach and author Melissa Gratias, Ph.D., who said, “Marjorie’s book turns small business marketing on its head.”

Marjorie developed this reputation marketing method in 1990 that helped turn her father’s business around.

She holds frequent PR webinars and lectures to share her passion for empowering business owners and nonprofit organizations to take control of their brand.

In 2017, the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce awarded Marjorie the Helen V. Head, Small Business Advocate of the Year. In 2013, the Savannah Morning News named Carriage Trade Public Relations as its Small Business of the Year. Marjorie was also named a Georgia Woman Entrepreneur Finalist by The University of Georgia, and one of the Top Ten Women in Savannah by AWWIN, Inc. In 2011, the Savannah Morning News named her Savannah’s Community Star and in 2006, she won Entrepreneur of the Year from the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce.

Marjorie graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in journalism and minor in fine art. In her spare time, she enjoys business mentoring, kayaking, whitewater rafting, pallet knife painting and hiking. In 2016, she completed the 500-mile backpacking trek on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Her favorite quote: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
