Eugene Weigel

Gene Weigel was born Eugene Joseph Weigel in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, NYC from a long line of New Yorkers from Brooklyn and Manhattan. Growing up in the shadow of comic book and sci-fi afficianados with ties to various well known book and periodical shaped his views on the world of fantasy. In addition, due to lack of sufficient parenting in the urban quagmire, summers were spent with grandparents spent on a large isolated mountain top. This increased his appreciation for nature and science and the mirror opposite of strange phenomena.

Being a longtime fan of the genre of classic sword & sorcery, Gene Weigel, has long appreciated the idea of classic sword and sorcery as a unique social interaction in the scope of energizing classic fantasy role playing into a contemporary format.

He played a an ongoing fantasy campaign that started in 1981 and has been active on the internet since 1995 in association with classic fantasy roleplaying games groups. After endles encouragement from E. Gary Gygax, the inventor of Dungeons and Dragons, Gene Weigel set about emphasizing the uniqueness of his own work and produced the game adventure BROKEN CASTLE based on his own fictional world called "the Swordlands". This setting is the center of Gene's writings and almost has a life of its own.
