Zoë Ligon is a Detroit-based sex educator, journalist, entertainer, and artist. Her work has appeared in Refinery29, Vice, Huffington Post, and many other international publications. She is also the proprietor of the online educational sex toy emporium Spectrum Boutique, where she has made it her life’s work to blast away the stigmas and misinformation that prevent us from having the amazing sex we all deserve. Zoë received a BS in psychology from Fordham University, where she also studied theology; she sold dildos at a sex toy shop while in school. After speaking to so many people about the intimate details of their lives, she realized that the issues she experienced with sexuality were universal, yet never spoken of. Zoë considers herself a “peer educator,” and enjoys teaching through public self-exploration, sharing personal experiences, and being radically transparent about mental health. After a few of her sex-positive blog posts went viral in 2015, she began using her newfound social media following (@thongria) to discuss sexuality though flirty, funny, and educational content. For Zoë, sex education is more than just access to pleasure; it’s a way for her to be a peacemaker in this world by helping people better understand themselves and others.
