Moses A Olade

Dr. Moses (M.A.) Olade is a retired Professor of Economic Geology who has lectured and published widely on the mineral deposits of Nigeria. He obtained a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Geology in 1969 from the premier University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and M.Sc. in Economic Geology from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 1972 where he studied sandstone uranium deposits. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 1974 where he worked on porphyry copper deposits. He was a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa he investigated uranium occurrences in alkaline igneous complexes. Dr. Olade was appointed a Lecturer at his alma mater at the University of Ibadan in 1975 where he rose to become Professor and Head of Geology Department in 1980. He was the Program Director of the first UNDP-sponsored Postgraduate M.Sc. training program in Mineral Exploration for Africa, and pioneer Dean of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at the Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure. Prof. Olade went into the diaspora in 1991and spent several years in the United States, where he worked on mineral resources development and environmental remediation in both California and Arizona respectively. He lectured as adjunct faculty at the Maricopa Community Colleges and the University of Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Olade returned to Nigeria in 2012 as a Visiting Professor at the Achievers University. Owo, while collecting data and making field visits for this book, he lectured and provided leadership in the development of the new University. He was Dean of the College of Pure and Applied Sciences from 2012-2014 and Head of the Department of Geological Sciences from 2014-2016. Prof. Olade is a distinguished Fellow of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) and was for several years the Editor-in-Chief of the NMGS Journal of Mining and Geology.
