Dr. Shirley Gholston Key

Dr. Shirley Gholston Key is a noted award-winning science teacher, author, writer, and a Christian educator. She is currently a member of the historical St. John Baptist Church (Vance) in Memphis, TN where her husband is the pastor. She serves as a Sunday School teacher, Missionary Society member, Vacation Bible School Director, Assistant Director of the Board of Christian Education, and as a Youth Matron.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota; a Master of Education degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas; and her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Houston in Houston, TX.

Dr. Key is a certified Christian Education teacher by the Division of Christian Education of the Sunday School Publishing Board in Nashville, TN. She is also a writer for the Sunday School Publishing Board’s Upper Elementary Faith Explorer, Sunday School textbooks.

In addition to her religious writings, Dr. Key has co-authored many science textbooks and teacher editions for Scott Foresman and Pearson Publishing Companies. She co-authored 102 books in the Scott Foresman/Pearson ‘s Elementary Science Series (K-6) and 142 books in the Scott Foresman/Pearson’s South Carolina Science Series (K-5).She also has published some chapters in various books and manuscripts in many journals.
