Henry Becket

Henry Becket has been writing most of his life...spelling tests, essays, exams, research papers, speeches, and thousands of scripts for TV commercials...but "The Becket List" is his first book, published in October 2020 through Red Door. In it is distilled the essence of a life spent watching and remembering the foibles of other people...and the world about us. This is manifested as an "A to Z of First World Problems", a not entirely serious compendium of all that is most wrong in our so-called civilised world - in an extremely trivial sense, obviously.

It started out simply as list of things that make him cross, but as the list lengthened he realised the potential for humour - whether in relation to travel and fellow-travellers, pubs, hotels and restaurants - and indeed a host of inanimate objects such as coathangers, rawlplugs and elastoplast. There is so much to be cross about, he now knows, that a first draft of Volume II has already been submitted to his publishers.

Married with four children and eight grandchildren, his interests encompass sailing, skiing, claret, ale, pubs, travel, watercolours, hillwalking, churches and much more besides. Oh, and the everyday absurdities of life....
