Daniel M. Argentar

Daniel Argentar is a literacy coach and English teacher at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. As a literacy intervention teacher for twenty years, he has been able to support struggling readers by co-creating a research-based curriculum that has helped all students close literacy gaps. In his role as a literacy coach, Dan has helped lead a school-wide literacy program working with teams and teachers to build literacy capacity and embed literacy skills into classroom instruction and assessment The program has resulted in positive gains in student literacy by creating a positive literacy culture where "every teacher is a literacy teacher."

Daniel earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communications from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an English teaching degree and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, and a master’s degree in reading from Concordia University in Chicago.

Dan resides outside Chicago with his wife, three children, and his 75 lb lap dog, Lucy.
