Jasper Quince, AKA, Jeffrey Merola, was born and raised in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. A gift he knew in his elementary years, Jasper would surprise his teachers with wild but structured creative stories. Attending honors classes throughout high school, Jasper began to shape his efforts into solid works with the help of best-selling author and editor Winslow Eliot. When Jasper was 18, he was accepted into Salem State University, studying English with a focus in Creative Writing and Traditional Photography. He also wrote articles for the school newspaper and its online site. Jasper was an editor for Soundings East, as well. Jasper has partaken in Performance/ Poetry workshops with famous poet Taylor Mali. He has met the late Lucille Clifton at The Dodge Poetry Festival. Jasper has had opportunities to hear readings from January O’ Neill, Michael Weaver, Taylor Mali, JD Scrimgeour, Rebecca Lindenberg, Katherine Howe, Bill Belichick, many other authors and poets, and has collaborated with musicians such as Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips.
Jasper’s poetry has been published online, in anthologies, collections, in magazines such as Images, Famous Poets of The Heartlands, and RedSkies. His poem, Nuclear Explosion was read on audio. Several of Jasper’s inspirations include Frank Herbert, Jeff Vandermeer, Blake Crouch, Hermann Hesse, George Orwell, Terry Miles, Stephen King, Brian Selznick, John Updike, John Steinbeck, Richard Fariņa, Hunter Thompson, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
