Rea Manderino PhD

Rea grew up in central Kansas, and her childhood was spent exploring the beauty of the Flint Hills and the remnant tallgrass prairies. She was introduced to the grand diversity of insects through an influential high school biology teacher. That same teacher provided her first exposure to ecology, which became her undergraduate major. She moved from Kansas to Chicago, then to Virginia for her Masters of Science, and finally to New York for her doctorate in entomology. Though she loves and thrives in the eastern forests where she conducts her research, her heart will forever be in the prairies.
