I arrived in southern Alberta in 2003. Meeting members of the Blackfoot tribe was exciting; I experienced them to be open and friendly people. Their warmth towards me as an immigrant was very much appreciated. I always felt accepted when visiting the Blood tribe.

When the opportunity came up to help the Tribe preserve their cultural heritage by establishing the Blackfoot Digital Library I did so without hesitation. Years later the elders did me the honor of giving me a Blackfoot name of which I am very proud.

Being retired I am no longer directly involved in the Blackfoot Digital Library but can still play a small part in helping preserve the Blackfoot culture by presenting their folk stories as children's books, using my Blackfoot name. In doing so I claim no credit for myself but thank the elders of the Tribe for passing these stories from one generation to the next.
