ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Marius Krige was born early in the year 1981 and raised in a town called Secunda at the heart of South Africa. He always held other peoples interests at heart and is helpful towards the needy.
He started writing his first book in 2015 but had to put it aside because of setbacks in his marriage. After meeting his new wife he got the inspiration back, with lots of support from his newfound love, and he picked up his manuscript and completed his book.
He has been working in the production and manufacturing field for many years where he found time to finish his book and self publish.
He has three kids of which two is his own and one stepson. He juggles his time between working 12-hour shifts and making sure his kids are well-fed and educated helping with homework. Now the only time he has to write is at night time for at most two hours.
He is not just a family man but also loves animals. Dogs have been a big part of his life while growing up and in his adult life.
He loves the sci-fi and thriller genre but only likes to write thriller short stories. Sally is his first short story he has finished, but on publication of Sally, there were already two other short stories in the making.
THE INTERVIEW
What do you read for pleasure?
Well, I like reading short stories in general, mostly fantasy and science fiction.
Reading short stories, enables me to move quickly from one author to the next in any genre I choose. Reading in this fashion, inspires me and gives me ideas to write my own short stories also experiment with different genres. I am a huge short story fan, mostly self-published authors
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My most commonly used device I use is my personal phone, as it is convenient and always with me where ever I am. Other than my phone I would use my laptop when I am just relaxing at home, because of the screen size.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
At this point I am still researching how to market books, as this is my first short story I have written and published by myself. But I am currently busy creating a website and a Facebook page for some marketing and exposure.
When did you first start writing?
Maybe around 2014 or 2015. I had a few short stories in the pipeline, but I soon realized the work you had to put into it and decided just to concentrate on this one.
Unfortunately I had some personal setbacks and had to cease writing for a while. So this year I was able to pick up the pen and start writing again to finish this short story.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing in itself is a joy, I write now when ever I can. I find that writing something new can make time go by quickly. It’s like in a moment, and three hour has passed. Writing fuels my imagination. I love it.
What are you working on next?
I do have something I am working on, but it’s to early to say much about it. Definitely another short story.
When you’re not writing, how do you spend your time?
That’s the time my kids and wife are at home. In my mind family comes always first, so I only write when they sleep or when they aren’t around. Quality family time is priority number one in my life.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, all three actually. Two of them has not been published yet, this short story is my first and only one that’s been published in February 2020.
Do you have any idea when we can be expecting your next short story to come out?
Well, no not really. I am working 12 hours a day and trying to spend as much time with my family as possible. Writing is very relaxing to me, but as I mentioned earlier, my top priority is my family.
