Robert Lee Snow

Robert Lee Snow has published several books which combine Civil War history and the genealogy of the soldiers in the regiments. Five of his books cover the Regiments that were in General Lewis A. Armistead's Brigade at the Battle of Gettysburg (the 9th, 14th, 38th, 53rd, and 57th Virginia Infantries). The research merges the analysis of service records with Finding the Men in the 1860 census.

Knowledge gained from the research of the Armistead Regiments led to the publications "1st Regiment, Virginia Reserves, Colonel Benjamin Lyons Farinholt's Reserves", "Henry County, Virginia Civil War Soldiers: Finding the Men in the 1860 Census" and "Civil War Soldiers of Pittsylvania County, Virginia: Finding the Men in the 1860 Census".

Researching one of Armistead's men who joined the Union Army, led to a book on Federal prison guards: "Ahl's Independent Heavy Artillery: Prison Guards at Fort Delaware."

Mr. Snow's book "Pittsylvania Artilleries: Finding the Men in the 1860 Census" covers six Artillery units. Four Artilleries that primarily included Pittsylvania County, Virginia men, and two other Artilleries from Richmond, Virginia and Campbell County, Virginia that worked closely with the Ringgold Artillery (one of the four Pittsylvania Artilleries).

Other publications are of local interest for Pittsylvania County, Virginia, namely, Civil War Soldiers of Pittsylvania County who served in the 18th and 21st Virginia Infantries, and in the Cavalries.
