Matthew Mintz

After serving as full time faculty for twenty years at The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC; Dr. Matthew L. Mintz, left academics in July 2017 to start a private Internal Medicine and Primary Care practice in Bethesda, MD. During his tenure at GW, Dr. Mintz directed numerous courses and in the fall of 2013, Dr. Mintz was appointed by the Dean to take charge of GW’s 4-year curricular revision, serving as Assistant Dean for Pre-Clinical Education. Dr. Mintz has won numerous teaching awards and been consistently named one of Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Docs since 2012. Dr. Mintz has done research and published in the areas of asthma, COPD, diabetes, and medical education.

Dr. Mintz is currently a solo practitioner in Bethesda, Maryland and one of the few physicians in his area who certifies patients in both the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia for medical cannabis as part of his regular practice. Dr. Mintz has certified over a thousand patients for medical cannabis, giving each specific recommendations tailored to their individual needs.

Dr. Mintz received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and a medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine and was chief medical resident. He received a Master Teacher’s certificate from the George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
