Adrian Esterman

Professor Esterman has a PhD in epidemiology from Flinders University, an MSc in medical statistics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a BSc (hons) in statistics from the University of Bath, UK.

For the last fifteen years, he has held the position of Foundation Chair of Biostatistics at the University of South Australia (UniSA). His career includes five years as a WHO staff member based in Geneva and two years as a staff member in the WHO EURO office in Copenhagen. After migrating to Australia, he worked thirteen years as Principal Epidemiologist with the South Australian Department of Health. His current research covers a diverse range of medical and health areas including gerontology, refugee settlement, diabetes, cancer epidemiology, vascular access, Indigenous health, mental health, dentistry and nursing. He has over 350 publications, many in high impact journals, with an h-index of 60. He is a Chief Investigator on two current NHMRC Project grants and one ARC linkage grant, as well as several industry grants. He has successfully supervised 26 PhD students through to completion and is currently supervising another six.
