TK Canyon has a zest for life, the great outdoors, dogs and God’s creation. His remarkable passion for Irish Setters began as a small boy after reading the book Big Red, by Jim Kjelgaard. At age twelve, his heart was ignited with a wonderful dream to have a dog of his very own. This spark quickly evolved into an unstoppable quest. His feet were now firmly planted on a path that developed into a lifelong journey to understand, train, hunt and live with this amazing breed of dogs. Canyon’s life river flows along for the next five decades with his loyal setters at his side. Everyday life events unfold with nonstop twists, turns, ups and downs while the dogs remain steadfast in their love for him.
One of eight children and raised in a small rural Michigan village surrounded by plenty of open farm country, he had the freedom to grow tenderly from a boy with a tag along dog into a man of strong faith. His parents recognized early on they had a son whose character transformed into wide eyed wonder whenever he stepped out into nature. They opened the gates to the great outdoors and encouraged him to explore the countryside walking, hiking and traveling miles on a bicycle. His passion grew stronger and stronger.
TK Canyon begins to realize his memory is filled with a collection of stories detailing an ordinary everyday life melted together with countless dog adventures. The dogs guide him from childhood to manhood and are the common thread bringing joy, laughter and sadness as the river of life flows along. After embracing these stories and holding them close to his heart for so many years, he begins to feel called to write them down. Now his stories are penned to paper.
His authentic outdoor stories are infused with a large measure of love for his beautiful dogs and a grateful heart for God’s splendid workmanship. You will be inspired, and your heart forever gladdened as you travel along with him on his lifelong journey.
