Peter Gruenewald

Dr. Peter Gruenewald is a physician, lifelong meditator and resilience trainer whose work joins clinical medicine with the Western contemplative tradition.

He is a Clinical Specialist in Sleep Medicine and General Integrated Medicine at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine. His clinical work centres on sleep, stress physiology and nervous-system regulation, including heart rate variability and the health promoting use of CBT, positive and motivational psychology and breath.

For more than fifteen years he has taught adaptive resilience to senior leaders, managers and professionals in the public and private sectors as an Associate Fellow of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and with the Major Projects Leadership Academy. Through his company, Adaptive Resilience Ltd, he offers resilience workshops and online training in English and German.

Alongside medicine, he has practised and studied meditation for decades within Anthroposophy and the Rosicrucian tradition. His books on this path name their sources, state plainly which claims are tradition and which are his own, and give careful practical guidance.

Books include:

Where Two Suns Meet (2026) – a contemplative practice manual centred on the Sun Meditation.

Rosicrucian Alchemy: A Spiritual Christian Path to Prepare the Philosopher's Stone (2024; second edition 2025)

Self-Leadership: Realize Your True Potential (2023)

Mastering Life: Rosicrucian and Magical Techniques for Achieving Your Life's Goals (2022)

Manifesting Your Best Future Self: Building Adaptive Resilience (2020)

The Quiet Heart: Putting Stress into Its Place (2007)
