Katherine Ponte

Katherine is an award-winning mental health advocate, best-selling author of Loving Someone with a Serious Mental Illness: Caring for Your Loved One and Yourself on the Journey to Mental Health Recovery published by New Harbinger, founder of Bipolar Thriving: Bipolar Recovery Coaching, creator of a leading psychiatric hospital outreach non-profit, and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. Katherine is a director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness-NYC. She holds a graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Katherine has been living with severe bipolar I disorder with psychosis for over 25 years. She reached recovery in 2018. She is the recipient of the highest honor in the bipolar disorder community, the Mogens Schou Award from the International Society for Bipolar Disorders. She lives in New York City with her spouse of nearly 25 years, Izzy, her tremendous supporter. Katherine's life mission is to inspire others to believe that mental illness recovery is possible and to help them reach it.
