Eric Schluessel is an assistant professor of Chinese history at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. His work on the social history of China and Central Asia stems from college years spent between Connecticut and Manchuria, which later led to research in the Uyghur homeland. Schluessel holds a PhD in History and East Asian Languages from Harvard University and has held fellowships from the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. He is rarely without his beloved ginger cat.
