Kohli an Associate Professor of Teaching and Teacher Education in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) and the co-founder and co-director of the Institute for Teachers of Color Committed to Racial Justice. Building on her experiences as an urban public middle school teacher, a teacher educator, and her scholarly training in critical race theory, she has spent the last decade researching and responding to racism in schools, with particular attention to the professional experiences and wellbeing of teachers of Color. Her scholarly work has been recognized through several awards, including the 2016 UCR Innovator for Social Change Award, the 2017 Scholar Activist and Community Advocacy Award from the Critical Educators for Social Justice Special Interest Group of American Educational Research Association (AERA), and the 2018 Early Career Award from the Division G: Social Context of Education of AERA.
