Nkechi Orabuchi-Fluker

Nkechi Orabuchi Fluker is a first-generation Nigerian-American born in Spokane, Washington and raised in Texas. Her parents have instilled the importance of reading and education in her life. As a child, she wrote various short stories and created comic illustrations, as well as poetry. Nkechi was a creative middle school math teacher for 11 years and has worked with teaching preschool children how to read using phonics. She also has her Ph.D. in Child Development.

She continues to be in the educational field as an advisor to families and as an educational consultant to educators and families. Being in the educational field for over 18 years has helped her support students’ educational needs successfully. She is the author of four books for children. Her books are on the Igbo culture and language as well as a children's Bible series, The Life Lessons of Chibu. She continues to write to help children of color be represented in literature accurately pertaining to children's biblical stories as well as representing the Igbo culture in her books geared towards learning the Igbo language.

Nkechi currently lives in Texas with her husband and four children. She has also launched an online school, Kingdom Life Virtual Academy. Abiidii Igbo Alphabet: An Igbo English Learning book is her debut children’s book.
