Deepak Prem Subramony
Deepak Prem Subramony is Professor and Coordinator of the Educational Technology Graduate Programs in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at Kansas State University, Kansas, USA.
He holds an MA in Mass Communication (2001) from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities and a PhD in Instructional Systems Technology (2005) from Indiana University Bloomington.
Prior to arriving at Kansas State, he held faculty positions at Utah State University and Grand Valley State University.
His primary scholarly interests revolve around the issues of (a) equitable access to the emancipatory potential of Information Age educational and communications technologies (ECT), and (b) the complex relationship between ECT and stakeholders from historically underrepresented, underserved, and marginalized groups.
In 2014 he coauthored (with Michael Molenda and others) a special issue—“The Mythical Retention Chart and the Corruption of Dale’s Cone of Experience”—of Educational Technology, a journal on whose editorial board he also served for several years.
He is currently serving as president of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT)’s Division of Culture, Learning, and Technology.
