Greg Zeck was born in Milwaukee in 1947 and grew up in the Twin Cities, the fourth of seven children of Robert E. Zeck, a lawyer, and Mary M. Zeck. He earned a B.A. from the University of Minnesota (1969) and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin (1974). He taught college English in Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, and in Serbia as a Fulbright lecturer. In the 1980s he began a consultancy in freelance business communications. He's been married since 1970 to Jennifer Saltzman Zeck, with whom he has a son, Gabriel; a daughter-in-law, Heidi; and a grand-daughter, Ruby Mae. Since 2011 Greg and Jen have lived in retirement in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
