I have taught with the New York City Department of Education for over two decades. I decided to wait this long to start publishing because family took priority. All the while, however, I kept honing my writing skills. I read all that there is to read about writing and what keeps a reader engaged in a story. I am, however, deeply motivated by authors like Chinua Achebe, Allen Paton, and George Orwell. Of course, I have other favorites, but the list would be too long to include here. If I've made one reader pause and question the world about him, I've done a monumental feat. However, as Tammy Ruggles noted in her review, I enjoy writing for the sake of entertaining and informing my readers.
