Patrick J. Hughes is a husband, father, writer, and retired research engineer. He was raised on a dairy farm and went on to become the first member of his family to graduate from college, earning two degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and another from Stanford. Writing fiction is his second act, after a long career fighting climate change while employed at a major research university, large and small consulting firms, and a leading national laboratory. He traveled the world during his career, but never forgot where he came from. That’s why the rural Wisconsin and broader western Great Lakes settings of the Overdrive Evans and Headwaters Prequel series’ ring true. He currently resides in Oak Ridge, TN, with his wife, Paula, and together they have two grown sons, Jared and Zach.
