Rita Reed

Rita Reed is a bestselling, award-winning children’s author and creator of the Dogfish Tales series. Her Southern California roots, lifelong love of the ocean, and background in art and design inspire the magical world of Dogfish. Through her stories, Rita celebrates kindness, courage, inclusiveness, and being proudly yourself. She lives in sunny California with her husband and two silly, spoiled cats.

A passionate advocate for accessibility, Rita believes in books for everyone. She partners with the nonprofit Imagination Storybooks, where Dogfish Tales are available in video and audiobook formats for blind, deaf, and neurodiverse children. She is a member of SCBWI, CIPA, and the Alliance of Independent Authors.
