Anthony Lee Head is drawn to the stories history leaves behind—the forgotten heroes, unlikely dreamers, and extraordinary people who stand just beyond the edge of the familiar world.

He is the author of Driftwood: Stories from the Margarita Road, which was named one of the Kirkus Reviews Best Books of 2020, and his latest novel, Bloodbound: Quincey Morris & the Hunt for Dracula, a sweeping reimagining of Bram Stoker's classic that tells the long-forgotten story of the Texas cowboy who helped destroy the world's most famous vampire. His fiction has also appeared in literary anthologies and journals.

The stories in Driftwood grew from real life. After years as a practicing trial attorney—while also running his own martial arts school and teaching college—Anthony decided it was time for a different kind of adventure. He and his wife, Cheri, left California behind and bought a rundown hostel on Mexico's Caribbean coast, transforming it into an award-winning hotel and bar.

For more than a decade they welcomed travelers from around the world, practiced their Spanglish, dined on world-class tacos, and served enough margaritas to fill several lifetimes. Along the way they met an unforgettable cast of dreamers, wanderers, and expatriates whose lives inspired Driftwood.

A lifelong student of history and lover of classic literature, Anthony eventually found his next story in an unexpected place: Bram Stoker's Dracula. Yet what captured Anthony's imagination wasn't Dracula himself, but Quincey Morris—the fearless Texas cowboy who helped destroy the Count before quietly slipping into literary obscurity. Bloodbound grew from a simple question: What if the forgotten hero had a far greater story to tell?

Whether set beneath the tropical sun or in the shadow of Gothic castles, his fiction explores courage, love, sacrifice, redemption, and the enduring power of hope. Anthony and Cheri now live in Northern California with an embarrassingly large number of rescue dogs and cats.
