Moira Welsh

Moira Welsh has been an investigative reporter with the Toronto Star for 30 years. Her stories focus on social justice, the environment and, the living conditions of older people. Moira’s 2003 investigation into nursing homes led to new legislation and was shortlisted for a Michener Award for public service journalism. She has co-authored investigations that won three National Newspaper Awards and a Michener Award. Her 2018 story on a nursing home transformation received an honourable mention from the Hillman Foundation, named after American labour leader Sidney Hillman, for journalism in pursuit of “the common good.” Moira lives with her family in Toronto.
