Vladi (Vladimir) Ruppo was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. After obtaining a degree in computer science, he moved to Jerusalem, Israel, where he spent the next 12 years developing software, publishing a magazine for Russian immigrants, consulting for a small venture capital fund, and setting up his first software startup. He also studied philosophy and comparative religion at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The passion for software prevailed. In 2000, Vladi moved to India, to set up a development centre for a British high-tech company in Bangalore. Combining Eastern and Western approaches to management, he expanded the centre from zero to 2,500 employees. Adaptive transformation of the largest division, which he led hands-on, resulted in a 100% productivity boost, sharp cost reduction, and a customer base of 80 million households .
After spending 18 years in India, Vladi now works in Eastern Europe, where he heads the Transformation consulting lab at EPAM Systems, Inc. The only constant in his life, both at the enterprise and the personal level, is change.
