G. Greene was born and raised in Western Massachusetts and lives there still in the house he and his wife constructed in the 1980s.
Poems In a Time of Grief is his first book, chronicling the first year and a half after the passing of his brilliant, beautiful, and accomplished wife, Jean, lost to an undiagnosed neurological disease in late 2018.
In a time spent learning to live with the unlivable, his book began to take shape as an effort to recognize that loss and grief have no pre-determined time limits, and yet the world is often done discussing it long before the grieving are. Many struggle to find a voice to express their grief, as the author struggled, and continues to struggle, to find his.
The hope is that Poems In A Time of Grief offers a way for readers to share their experience, share their pain, and, perhaps, achieve some small measure of solace, if only through the knowledge that they aren’t alone in their struggles. In a post-COVID world that has so altered the process of dying and grieving, more than ever, people need to connect to survive.
The process continues for the author. A second volume is nearly two-thirds complete at this writing and may find a place in the world if the first volume finds a place in the hearts of readers.
