In Ami's world, all is not as it seems...
Her historical western romance novels are a mix of mystery, intrigue, and, well, romance. There's also some snappy dialogue and a funny animal or two. She blogs about general observations, shenanigans, and historical tidbits, ranging from off-beat to serious. Ami is a collector of curiosities, ideas, and perspectives, riding a fine line between adhering to rules and being a scofflaw.
You can often catch her with a hot beverage in hand, talking to her dogs, or watching the birds in her yard and the clouds in the sky.
She loves connecting with people and hearing their stories.
If you’d like to see a pic or two of what she sees, find her on Instagram @amihickenking or on her eponymous website.

Longer bio:
When I was little I wanted Andy Rooney’s job. He got to ask questions with a splash of zany, cynic, and curious—I wanted to be a part of that. And while I love to laugh and smile, having a hall pass for grumpiness (even for a fun moment) seemed enticing if not altogether socially unacceptable (or so I was told) for a young lady.
The little rebel within who battles with the good girl was all in.
While my inner scofflaw “defied” conventions, my external introvert (is that a thing?) loves wandering, wondering, and cloud watching. I’m an avid question asker and have strong streak of curiosity that has yet to do me in. I also enjoy learning and connecting the dots in my inner and outer worlds. I’ve always been a voracious reader, fountain pen–and–paper product enthusiast, as well as lover of wax seal jewelry and pretty, shiny objects. I love good stories and analogies, both written and spoken.
Tell me your story—my spirit will listen.
I’ve always been told that I was an epic storyteller and have loved storytelling since I was very young. All the years of oral storytelling, observation, and random scribbles over the years finally decided to break through and find daylight. I love playing with words and now I share that in both verbal and written forms.
I frequently stand on the precipice, watching and observing, but when I’m in, I’m all in. I’m your ride-or-die girl, Thelma to your Louise (or Louie, whichever the case may be).
Coffee or tea? Yes, please.
