Bill Ribbans

Bill qualified as a doctor in 1980. He has worked in England and the USA. He is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and is Professor of Sports Medicine. He specialises in surgery for the injured sports person. He is based in Northampton - his home town. He has been immersed in sport since infancy when his father was a sports journalist. His career has spanned the time from when there was minimal knowledge and resources for caring for injured athletes to the present period of massive medical departments looking after elite sports people. Most of the changes have been for the better - but not all.

In November 2020, he published his first book for general readership, 'Knife in the Fast Lane'. The book is part-autobiographical and part-commentary on the care of athletes over time.
