Jack McGourty

Jack McGourty, Ph.D. is a behavioral scientist, educator, and entrepreneur whose work sits at the intersection of cognitive science, innovation, and venture development.

His doctoral research at Stevens Institute of Technology examined the cognitive and behavioral dimensions of innovation — how founders and innovators actually process uncertainty, generate ideas, and decide to act. Following his doctoral work, he joined the Stevens faculty, teaching in the Masters of Technology Management program, where the framework that became The Behavioral Venture Process was first developed and tested.

For nearly three decades, Dr. McGourty has taught entrepreneurship, innovation, and behavioral science across four schools at Columbia University: the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, Columbia Business School, Teachers College, and the School of Professional Studies. His courses have reached MBA and EMBA cohorts, engineering students, educators, practitioners, and high school students encountering entrepreneurship for the first time.

Dr. McGourty is the founder of Venture for All, a federally registered entrepreneurship program bringing The Behavioral Venture Process to students, founders, and corporate innovators worldwide.
