Ross McDonald

Ross McDonald has lived in Norway, England and Singapore, places whose landscapes and histories have more than a passing influence on the world of Memories of the Anunnaki.

His first mistake was thinking that writing a fantasy novel would be easy: there would be no research, because he could simply make everything up.

His second was becoming so absorbed in his characters, and in every detail of their world and history, that they began to seem real to him. What emerged was a world inspired by our own history, but seen through a slanted lens: familiar enough to recognise, yet different enough to explore.

Having ventured rather further down that road than he originally intended, he decided there was nothing for it but to follow the story wherever it led.
