Stephen E. Gent

Stephen Gent is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Mississippi in 1999 and his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester in 2005. He has been teaching at UNC since 2005.

His research largely focuses on the role of third parties in conflict and conflict resolution, including the causes and consequences of military intervention, international mediation, and legal dispute resolution. He is the author of Market Power Politics: War, Institutions, and Strategic Delay in World Politics (Oxford University Press, 2021).
