David Lydiat

Inspired by fantasy adventure books and films he grew up with, combined with a love of wildlife, walks with his family and Labrador, and Biblical stories; David set about writing stories for his young daughters during the covid lockdowns and 'The Hidden Gateway' Series was born.

The first book, subtitled 'The Golden Labrador' was released in November 2020. A sequel, 'The Twelve Realms' was released in February 2021.

He is a related to Lorna Doone author R.D Blackmore through his maternal Grandmother.

His background in politics would eventually lead him to Westminster and working for an MP in Parliament for several years. During this time David’s roles included speech writing and his accomplished words were etched into Hansard during debates and ministerial questions.
