Dustin Kulling

Dustin Kulling is a best-selling author ("Flip the Script"), who recently retired as a Captain from a Southern California police department, serving nearly 30 years in the profession. With deep expertise in narcotics trafficking, use-of-force issues, and officer wellness, Dustin has spent much of his career focused on improving both law enforcement practices and the well-being of officers.

A seasoned educator, Dustin teaches leadership, management, and community policing. He has contributed to numerous training projects and film productions focused on de-escalation, recognizing drug influence, internal affairs investigations, and racial profiling.

Dustin’s passion for officer wellness led him to study the impact of mental and physical health on law enforcement outcomes while earning his Master Instructor credential through the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). As a graduate of the prestigious CA POST Command College, he received the Hank Koen Memorial Award for his research into how technology influences law enforcement use-of-force outcomes. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D., building on his Master’s degree in higher education.

A first-generation American on his father’s side, Dustin is married to his wife of 33 years. He is a proud father of three and grandfather of two. Outside of his professional work, Dustin is an avid outdoorsman—whether surfing, sailing, cycling, hiking, or kayaking. He’s also a dedicated hot yoga enthusiast, teaching yoga and self-regulation techniques exclusively to law enforcement professionals.
