Robert Chiles

Dr. Chiles is a senior lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Maryland, where he teaches a diverse array of courses and specializes in U.S. politics and society from the 1870s to the 1940s. His essays have appeared in numerous scholarly and popular publications, including Environmental History, the Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, North Dakota History, New York History, the Washington Post, Newsday, the New York Daily News, and the Albany Times Union. He is co-editor of the New York History Journal and the host of the interview show "Empire State Engagements" (www.empirestateengagements.com).
