What is better or best? What is a purposeful life? What does success look like?
As a 'lifelong improver' these are the typical questions that have intrigued David. For most of his life, in work or play, he has always strived for these things without really knowing what they are.
It was the work of Martin Seligman that first ignited his interest in wellbeing around 2010. Since this initial spark David has devoured books, research papers, website content, blogs, presentations, massive online open courses (MOOCs) and anything he could to learn more and build expert knowledge about the subject.
Over this time he has come to realise that the answer to all of these questions, whether looking at them from a personal, team, organisation, community or even national perspective, is best described as a focus on wellbeing. Whilst writing his book 'The Age of Wellbeing' he created the CANBE model and now uses this framework as a tool to help individuals, teams, leaders and organisations thrive through his coaching, consulting and speaking services.
The driving motivation for this work is his vision of 'A world where we can all thrive.'
He has broad experience of leadership and strategy having held positions in FTSE 100 companies, sport and the community. His love of challenges and keeping fit have seen him conquer three mountains (small’ish’), two marathons (long’ish’), a ride around Dorset (hard’ish’), a 1 mile swim (wet’ish’) and a sky-dive from 13,000 ft (scary’ish’). In his past he also played football with ex England Footballer, Alan Shearer.
On a personal level he has been married for twenty three years, has two adult sons and resides in Dorset, England.
