Michael Mullins

Michael Mullins started his career in IT and Cyber Security after graduating from Middlesex University in London. Prior to that he had in a few jobs as an electronics technician.

It wasn’t until he caught his first hackers around 1997, that he discovered the power of continuously monitoring computing systems and the users connected to them and reacting quickly to anything out of the ordinary.

Michael was an early adopter of PGP encryption, Linux, and Internet firewalls, and he helped secure organisations of all sizes, from fintech start-ups like Skrill, to multinational luxury brands like Burberry.

He went on to work for several years at IBM, helping them secure their managed services infrastructure at several Swiss banks, and then as Security Officer for one of Switzerland’s best known IT companies.

Michael has retained his links to academia and was an external examiner in computer science for a London University. He has written three books, and created courses in cloud computing, Linux, and security. Over 17,000 students have enrolled in his courses online.

In his spare time Michael enjoys mountain biking in the Swiss Alps and running anything from 10 minutes on a treadmill to Olympic distance marathons.
