Chris has been married to his wife, Kim, for forty-six years. They have four children and six grandchildren.
In 2000, after serving as a minister for twenty years, God began to direct Chris’ heart into the community. As a result, Chris was the visionary and driving force behind the development of three major projects. The first was “El Amor De Cristo,” a seventeen home Habitat for Humanity subdivision built solely by churches. The second project was Community Builders – a coalition of six Northwest Valley churches that provided quarterly service projects to assist the city of El Mirage. The third project – the one that fully captured Chris’ heart – was Helping Hands for Single Moms.
Since its launch in 2002, Helping Hands for Single Moms has provided over $6 million in scholarships and supportive services to hundreds of low income single mom college student families. In 2018, Chris launched Helping Hands for Single Moms, Dallas.
In 2015, Chris was named “Educator of the Year” by the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education and in 2011 received a Golden Rule award from the Arizona Interfaith Movement. In 2008, Helping Hands for Single Moms received the “Judges Choice” award at the KAET Channel Eight “Be More” awards. Helping Hands for Single Moms was recognized as the top program for “originality and extra-ordinary effort” out of 130 statewide nonprofits.
In 2020 Chris co-authored the book Heroes in our Midst – Inspirational Stories for Single Moms, sharing the stories of incredible single moms who are making great sacrifices to move their families out of poverty.
