Technology is everywhere, and it can be beautiful - especially when it elegantly, easefully serves people, and meets their authentic needs, desires, and aspirations.
There are three pillars that hallmark my approach to UX Research:
- love of people
- a desire to tell their stories
- a drive to innovate how we do research
As a consultant for most of my career, I’m grateful for many opportunities to have worked intimately with a uniquely broad array of companies, primarily in the technology sector. I’ve helped experiences take shape for an equally diverse range of technologies: robotics, home automation, self-driving cars, e-commerce websites, apps, and services.
In addition to my work in the tech industry, I’ve also completed comprehensive training and currently practice with: Appreciative Inquiry, Hakomi Mindfulness-Centered Psychotherapy, Spiral Dynamics, the Inner View™ method of filmmaking, as well as a long-standing practice and study of mindfulness rooted in Zen Buddhism. All of these teachings attracted me as they have something in common - they center around how we relate and deepen with ourselves and one another. They have completely transformed my approach and interactions with research participants, stakeholders, colleagues — and people in general.
Integrating these practices directly into my work, I’ve found this relational skillset to be uniquely imperative in the tech sector, where deep insights derived by grounded, empirical qualitative research fuel innovation and transformation.
