I'm a recovering Nuclear Engineer and MBA with 38 years' experience writing technical documents. I retired from the U.S. Navy as a civil servant in January 2020, expecting to become a gig-writer providing professional content to clients. But I sacrificed that boring life to write novels in my favorite genre — action-adventure-thrillers.

I use real-life current events and places to bring realism to my stories, and I strive for technical accuracy in the details of my writing. In this age of terrorism on American soil, I've wondered why the world's largest navy base in Norfolk, Virginia, hasn't been the target of terrorists.

That thought was the basis for my debut novel, On American Soil: Jihad. I added a twist embodied in my Jace West character that most action-thrillers don't have. He develops an ability to sense things that others can't. His wife, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Charlotte West, and her partner, Special Agent Grace Madson, use him to hunt bad guys. Together they form the FBI's Special Investigations Unit. Grace and Charlotte are the professionals that make it work. Jace is the 'special' part.

Thanks to my dad, I spent much of my youth camping, hiking, and canoeing in the Adirondack Mountains in New York State. That influenced me to get my Civil and Environmental Engineering degree at Clarkson College of Technology. I wanted to be an Environmental Engineer, but circumstances led me to a long career as a nuke. I earned my MBA from the historic College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, while still working for the Navy.
