Michael Lisagor

Michael Lisagor (and his wife) have practiced SGI Nichiren Buddhism for 57 years. In Romancing the Buddha (4th Edition) he writes about applying that practice to the hardest parts of an ordinary life — depression, a spouse's serious illness, raising two daughters, work, and aging — in plain language a reader does not need to be Buddhist to use. His other personal-growth books are My 50 Years of Buddhist Practice, The Muse Within: Unlocking Spiritual Growth Through Creative Icons (second edition, retitled from Personal Growth in the Time of COVID), and Eleven Life Lessons for Teenagers (and Everyone Else). He adapted Romancing the Buddha as a one-man show, and publishes more than 100 articles and videos organized by life challenge on his website.

Michael is also founder of Celerity Works, founded in 1999, and a retired management consultant who spent his career helping companies win and manage government work. With Mark Amtower he co-authored How to Win in the Government Market (2nd Edition, November 2024). He is also author of The Essential Guide to Managing a Government Project (2nd Edition, January 2025) and, with Eric Adolphe, How to Develop a Winning SBIR Proposal. He writes columns for Washington Technology / FCW / Nextgov.

His books are available in paperback and Kindle editions on Amazon, and the personal-growth titles can be read free as Flipbooks on his website. Michael lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest.
