Having a background and education in musical theater and dance, Brandy uses her experiences to get the reader to not only read, but to take them on a journey of the senses through her use of imagery. She uses colorful metaphors and analogies to help readers relate to the topics in order to draw out emotion. Having dabbled with writing music and poetry throughout her life, she didn't start diligently writing until a good friend, also a lover of words and music, piqued inspiration within her.
