Jo Harthan

Since childhood, Jo has suffered from CWD (Compulsive Writing Disorder). After more career changes than Microsoft have issued updates, she began having dreams that were demanding she took her hobby seriously. Eventually, on the 31st December 2010, she complied and took early retirement from the University of Nottingham so that she could write full-time.

Her first fiction titles were a series of short stories inspired by walking the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path of England.

“I had so much fun writing those,” she reports. “There's nothing like murder and mayhem to keep me entertained.”

In 2020, during the Covid pandemic, she was hard at work in her enforced isolation and wrote and published three novels.

When Jo isn’t writing, you’ll find her hiking over the Pennine moors or dreaming of busking as she plays her guitar.

An Indie publisher by choice, to date she has published twenty one books - nine non-fiction and twelve fiction titles. Most of her non-fiction books are published under the slightly different name of Joan Harthan. They are mostly about dreaming and how to work productively with dreams. Having international recognition for her dream work, she is currently working hard to bring her fiction titles to a wider audience.
