Larry Bradley

Larry Bradley experienced childhood cancer first-hand as the parent of a child with leukemia. He and his wife, Mary Lou, had already witnessed their nephew and his family fight a long battle against the disease when their nine-year-old son was diagnosed with the same leukemia. His experience led him to discover one of the most miraculous medical breakthroughs in the twentieth century, the discovery of a cure for acute lymphocytic leukemia.

In preparation for writing "Trials" Bradley interviewed more than one hundred people, including doctors and nurses who participated in the groundbreaking clinical trials, and the parents of more than fifty children who participated in the trials. He uses the personal journals of his wife and her sister as roadmaps to tell their personal stories and to explore the personal trials endured by medical professionals at the time. who sometimes wondered if they were doing more harm than good.

Bradley has volunteered for more than two decades for a variety of cancer-support organizations, including the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and Candlelighters for Children with Cancer. He retired in 2018 after a successful career in sales and marketing. He and Mary Lou, his wife of forty years, live in Eugene, Oregon. They have two grown sons and two grandchildren.
