Norman Luce

Born in Palo Alto, Norman Luce enjoyed an eventful childhood with his parents and older sisters. His mother, a former art teacher, turned attorney, provided Norman with a love of the arts in all of its forms. His father, also an attorney (now retired), instilled in him a love for all things silly, mostly Monty Python.

When Norman turned sixteen, he took up an interest in theater and auditioned for a local youth theater company in his hometown. From there, he went on to perform in countless plays for the company until graduating High School in 2003. After a short hiatus, Norman attended Foothill College, enrolling in the Theater Conservatory program: a two-year intensive training course for aspiring actors. Although Norman completed his training with the program, receiving his certificate of completion, he would not complete his time in college and temporarily dropped out.

Sometime later, Norman took up an interest in filmmaking. Particularly the art of cinematography. Through a series of books, classes at De Anza College, and many hours’ worth of YouTube tutorial videos, Norman taught himself the many aspects of cinematic storytelling and technical know-how. Including script structure, on-set terminology, and camera tech.

Later on, he would form a group of like-minded friends and filmmakers under the banner Dragon Farm Productions. He and his group regularly participate in the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project, where the goal is to create a short seven-minute film within two days. Norman has received awards for his cinematography and abilities as a producer.

In addition to being a filmmaker, Norman also acts as a film critic on his blog. He reviews movies (new and old) and offers his opinions and insights about cinema and other related topics. You can visit his blog at:

During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, Norman was forced to reevaluate his artistic situation. Realizing that his primary passions would be out of commission for an unforeseeable amount of time, he turned to fiction writing as a means of maintaining his artistic mind. With his debut novella, Norman aims to provide readers a compelling story that will shine a little light on the beauty of human sexuality.
