Charlene Cobb has worked in education for over 30 years as a teacher, reading specialist, district administrator, professor, staff developer, and consultant. The focus of her work is supporting curriculum, instruction, and assessment to meet the needs of all learners. Dr. Cobb has worked nationally with schools and districts to support instructional programs in literacy and is particularly interested in the development of linguistically diverse learners. She has contributed several articles to the International Reading Association journal, The Reading Teacher, and has co-authored three books and written chapters on the topics of literacy, vocabulary, and assessment.
Dr. Cobb has a strong commitment to equity for all learners and believes that honoring and empowering learners is critical to academic achievement. Her work is based on research that is also practical for teachers to utilize in classrooms and for parents to implement at home. As co-founder and co-director of Learning Matters Consulting Group, Dr. Cobb finds fulfillment in providing resources and support to teachers, children, and families.
